The following has an output from the error commonly seen with conflicting instances of postgres on BT4

Hope that helps.

Also keep in mind that backtrack has by default an instance of postgress installed. It is possible that nexpose is trying to connect to the default pg port and that is already taken by the default install of postgress. I have ran into this scenario within my vm environment.

Here is a link to the NeXpose reqs: http://community.rapid7.com/redmine/projects/nexpose/wiki/General_FAQ

The most common reason for a heap-space error during startup is that the system is not meeting the memory requirement of 2gig minimum.

Subject: [nexpose-users] Java Heap Space Error

Hello -

I'm trying to install the Nexpose Community Edition within BackTrack 4.
BackTrack 4 is running within a Sun VirtualBox VM. I've followed all the online tutorials but am getting a *Java Heap Space Error,* and Nexpose is locked in Maintenance Mode. I'm not quite sure how to resolve this problem. I've searched online but haven't found the solution.

How much space does Nexpose need to prevent a Java Heap Error?
How do I change the Java space size for Nexpose?
How do I get Nexpose out of maintenance mode?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
